The first ever Timor-Leste’s garment factory, Mahanaim Garment and Manufacture Lda., is a private business recently established under the Jacinto Group. Jacinto group is one of the largest business houses in Timor-Leste with multiple business interests spanning from retail to construction to office supplies.
Mahanaim Garment initially plans to penetrate the garments market targeting both institutional clients such as uniforms for police, defense forces and regular buyers with babywear, womenswear and then gradually expand its product line by blending traditional Timorese Tais design with modern fashion trends and produce high quality clothing line targeted at Asian and European markets.
MDF supports Mahanaim Garment in acquiring skilled professionals in the areas of product design, pattern making and cutting, factory operations, quality control and administration to start the first ever garment factory in Timor-Leste that can meet demand in national and international market. This venture is not only a significant leap in the nascent manufacturing industry but is also a key investment to promote jobs for women.
