The Business Adviser will have the opportunity to design and manage investment plans with a large variety of strategic private and public players in the economy to stimulate innovative practices that create growth, stimulate production in Sri Lanka and increase exports.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
> Perform economic analysis of key sectors of the economy based on extensive fieldwork.
> Develop medium-term growth strategies for sectors.
> Assess the technical and economic feasibility of business plans and/or, in close interaction with business partners, develop such plans.
> Negotiate and manage investment agreements.
> Be extensively involved in research activities to assess the performance of the investment portfolio and its impact.
> Contribute to MDF’s thinking and writing on the economy as well as related discussions, where appropriate.
> A university degree in business, agriculture, economics, or other related discipline. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
> Very strong analytical skills including the ability to design and execute qualitative and quantitative research projects.
> Ability to communicate, negotiate and develop good working relations with a wide variety of players in the private and public sector.
> Ability to independently plan and manage work streams.
> Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
> Enthusiastic team player, hands on, and flexible.
> At least three years’ work experience in a related field.
> International experience, either through work or study.
> Familiarity with issues affecting the private sector in Sri Lanka as well as international business and economic trends.
> Fluency in Sinhalese, Tamil or other regional languages.
