African Swine Fever in Timor-Leste

Market Development Facility (MDF) in Timor-Leste collaborated with the Timorese Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) on a communications campaign to create awareness of African Swine Fever (ASF). The objective was to build awareness of ASF among pig farmers and promote good biosecurity and pig rearing best practices to reduce the spread of the virus and prevent pig deaths. Survey results showed that 84 per cent had received information on ASF through the campaign, and 92 per cent of these reported that the information was useful.
