African Swine Fever (ASF) is a disease that affects both domestic and wild pigs. It is severe and highly contagious viral disease which affects all pigs.
All infected pigs will die.
It wont infect humans or other animals. There is no Vaccine or treatment. It is a serious disease and has killed millions of pigs around the world, so we are not alone. It can be avoided with proper animal health hygiene and good biosecurity practices.
Pigs are very important to us here in Timor-Leste, as farmers and community members. It is important that we take steps to stop ASF from spreading further.
