MDF Fiji is working with Baywater Engineering to increase farmers’ awareness and usage of its soil conditioner, Organic Plus Liquid Compost. Baywater Engineering employs innovative bio-reaction technology to repurpose chicken manure and distillery waste into a high-quality natural soil conditioner.

The availability of locally produced sustainable inputs has become increasingly important in light of Fiji’s declining soil health and rising costs of imported inorganic alternatives, which also contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, erratic weather patterns are adversely impacting crop yields, while warmer temperatures are creating issues related to pests and diseases.

Baywater Engineering’s Organic Plus Liquid Compost has been proven effective in enhancing soil health, resulting in improved crop yields. Farmers have observed notable improvements in crop size and increased resistance to pests and diseases.
