MDF works with partners to contribute to Fiji’s growth and development, focusing on tourism, high-value agriculture, and Urban Industries.
MDF supports tourism, agriculture, outsourcing services and green energy in Fiji. We also have an exploratory portfolio of special projects undertaken in collaboration with the Government of Fiji.
Our strategy aligns closely with government priorities and the renewed Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership, focusing on economic diversification, higher productivity and greater private sector participation. MDF’s approach to development is inclusive and encompasses environmental sustainability and climate resilience, alongside a commitment to increase the economic participation of iTaukei resource owners.
In tourism, MDF focuses on both air and sea travel, with a parallel strategy to promote indigenous and community-based tourism. MDF’s approach in high value agriculture is rooted in sustainable, climate-smart agriculture: supporting farmers to use agricultural inputs (such as seeds, fertiliser and information) that improve resilience, soil health and productivity, while also facilitating supportive policy.
MDF supports urban industries, which have the potential to create jobs, particularly for women, youth and people with disabilities. Government recognition of the value of the outsourcing services sector reflects MDF’s work over the past five years to position Fiji as an alternative, premier destination fo outsource services. MDF is currently building on successful investments to focus on market positioning, skill development and attracting foreign investment.
In the growing green energy portfolio, MDF and partners focus on demand for urban solar solutions and decarbonising Fiji’s vehicle fleet.

Carol Watkins, CEO – Pacific Centrecom, Fiji
I used to be the president of the Business Process Outsourcing Council in Fiji, and that’s when the relationship with MDF started, five years ago. When I moved to Pacific Centrecom, the relationship continued. Partnership with MDF has been very valuable. We have experienced huge growth as a company. Three years ago, we had 200 staff; over the last year, we have six different centres and hired more than 400 staff. MDF support has enabled us to [build] awareness abroad, including Europe and the US. Now we are trying to hire staff for the nighttime to reach those markets. MDF has also been working with the [wider] BPO industry and that helped Centrecom indirectly.
