MDF Steps Up Support For Feral Pig Management in Samoa

MDF Pacific Regional has stepped up its support for feral pig management in Samoa by providing 10 additional Pig Brig traps to the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa (SROS) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries – Samoa (MAF). These traps will be strategically deployed across Savai’i and Upolu.

Two of these Pig Brig traps were provided to MAF’s Animal Health and Production Division so they could deliver rapid response services. These traps will be deployed by the Ministry based on requests from private sector businesses and organisations who have raised concerns about the damage caused by feral pigs to community playing fields and school properties.

SROS and MAF will continue engaging with communities in Savai’i and Upolu to gather insights from the initial trap deployment. Stay tuned for more updates!
