Lanka Bio Fertilisers – Sri Lanka
Last week, the Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Paul Stephens, visited Lanka Bio Fertilisers (LBF) in Galle to highlight the ongoing collaboration with MDF in advancing the use of improved fertilisers in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector.
MDF supports Sri Lanka’s transition from costly imported fertilisers to adopting cost-effective, locally produced inputs and advanced technologies. This transition is key to increasing farm productivity, profitability, and soil health—vital for addressing climate change. MDF has partnered with LBF to facilitate this change to enhance local production, redesign distribution strategies, and improve access to knowledge about new products and technologies for smallholder farmers.
During the visit, the delegation met smallholder tea farmers benefiting from LBF’s products, visited the demonstration plot at Gangabada Tea Factory and explored opportunities to strengthen information dissemination and extension services. MDF is proud to remain committed to playing an active role in developing key facets of the agriculture sector in Sri Lanka.
