MDF is joining forces with cutting-edge innovators Spectrify AI and Hyperglade to transform Sri Lanka’s specialty coffee sector through AI- driven services to improve the quality of coffee and traceability solutions to meet regulatory compliances. These two innovative partnerships will open doors to increase the data available for processors to improve their techniques to meet exports opportunities.

MDF partner Spectrify is a tech innovation company that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and spectral analysis to assess and improve quality across agricultural value chains. Spectrify is best-known for their flagship product, the SpectrifyAI Spectrometer, a portable, smart, near-infrared (NIR) spectrometer designed to support the agricultural supply chain.
For the first time in Sri Lanka’s coffee sector, through this partnership, Spectrify will use its spectrometer to analyse data, including flavour and aroma profiles, identify contaminants and pesticide residues, and detect defects during routine quality assessments.
MDF partner Hyperglade provides traceability solutions for agricultural supply chains such as that of coffee. Through its blockchain product, Hypertrails, businesses can enhance transparency, , improve quality control and comply with international best practices.
Through this innovative partnership, MDF will support specialty coffee businesses to use blockchain-based technology to improve the traceability of their supply chain, facilitating better quality. This in turn will allow Sri Lankan coffee producers to tap into premium markets.
